Section H-Row 1-Seat 7

February 21, 2011

I was fortunate enough to have been asked to attend the Rolando Santana runway show in New York last week.  So a few StyleWeek people and myself took a mini road trip.  The trip consisted of some disturbing car games  e.g. “what would you rather?”, changing into my outfit for the show in the car on the FDR drive and some bizarre supernatural occurrence halfway through Connecticut on our way home.  We arrived to New York and the venue, Exit Art, just in time for the show.  I was impressed and excited to find out that we were sitting front row!  Rolando Santana’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection was beautiful, or in Rolando’s words “Sophisticated, dark and chic.” -FoxNews.  Most of the pieces consisted of what I have been admiring during fashion week: fur and leather.  I loved being so close; seeing the texture of the fabrics and every detail was fantastic.  After the show we said a quick hello (and thank you for the invitation) to our StyleWeek Ambassadors, Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen.  Afterwards, we grabbed a few cocktails in Soho at the Pegu Club and Cafe Noir, where our French waiter told us he “moved to New York for love”…honest and endearing.  I could not have been in better company and this was a perfect ending to New York Fashion Week F/W 2011.
